The Animals — Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood
Nina Simone — Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood
Nirvana — The Man Who Sold The World
“He said I was his friend
Which came as a surprise…
I spoke into his eyes — I thought you died alone…
A long, long time ago
Oh, no! Not me!
We never lost control!”

Arcade Fire — Wake Up
It’s a song about growing up. And the thesis is simple:
“I guess we’ll just have to adjust.”

Neil Young with Crazy Horse — Round & Round (It Won’t Be Long)
An amazing song I discovered yesterday at the record store. It’s from Neil Young’s second solo album, Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere, which I’ve fallen in love with over the past few hours.

Los Horóscopos De Durango — Si La Quieres
Every mixtape I’ve ever made has contained some insight into my life, each track providing a small glimpse into my world.
It doesn’t take a genius to burn a CD, but to make a memorable compilation takes something special — inspiration.
It had been over a year since I made my last mixtape, but this past week, I finally melted some MP3s onto plastic. My inspiration? A challenge from a “funky” girl who loves cigarettes all too much.
So here’s your glimpse, blogosphere. This is a B-side from my latest mix: though it didn’t make the cut, it’s still a damn good song. I hope you enjoy it.
NOW GO MAKE ONE FOR A FRIEND.
The Knife — Heartbeats
Swedish women have captured my heart (and ears).
Earlier this week, I stumbled onto a Lykke Li song called “Breaking It Up.” Soon after, I heard the song above.
Both singles are heavy on synth and use hand-clap snares reminiscent of Talking Heads. The two Swedish band’s new wave revival puts Kanye’s Heartbreaks & 808s to shame.
Respect the Swedish and their dope beats.
